Hey there! My name is Catie, and I am the owner of cSquared Lettering. I am a Phoenix, AZ native, and I love Jesus, coffee, dogs, and all things crafting! I would define myself as one of those people who picks up every hobby possible, and I too often catch myself saying “oooo, I can make that myself!,” which can sometimes be dangerous (if you are also one of those people… you know what I mean).

One of the hobbies in my life that I picked up and NEVER put down is hand-lettering! My hand-lettering journey began in high school while I was on a church retreat; I was journaling in my Bible, and out of nowhere I kinda stared to practice calligraphy and I was like “wait I’m like, pretty okay at this!” sooo calligraphy in my Bible turned into practicing on paper, chalkboards, canvas, etc..

Fast forward to 2018, my dad gave me an iPad for Christmas. I knew the first thing I’d do once that iPad was turned on for the first time; download Procreate. If you don’t know what Procreate is, it’s pretty much an artist’s dream. You can draw, paint, doodle, hand-letter pretty much anything you want, and all you need is an iPad and Apple Pencil. I’m sure you know where this is going— I started hand-lettering like crazy.

All the while, my mom had taken on the hobby and small business of making t-shirts with the Cricut. I showed her the designs I hand-lettered and she looked at me and said “you NEED to sell these as SVGs on Etsy.” At the time I barely knew anything about SVGs, and I definitely felt under-qualified as any sort of graphic designer— heck, I was a college student studying accounting… the last thing I wanted to do was start a business in an industry I felt incompetent in. Luckily, my graphic designer boyfriend (now husband), showed me how to turn the designs I hand-lettered on my iPad into professional scalable vector graphics (big kid word for SVGs), and I started making new designs left and right. After a few months of pushing off the start to my business, I opened HandLetteredSVGs on Etsy in May of 2019.

In March of 2021, my husband and I started a shop on Etsy selling mock-ups for small businesses. We started this because even though we aren’t professional photographers by any means, we felt we would be able to style aesthetically pleasing shots of t-shirts and help small-business owners display their products with ease. We dabbled in a few shop names, but the one that stuck the most was cSquared Mockups. cSquared has been our “ship name” since we started dating in 2014, so it made sense that our collab shop would be named after us. Then, in May 2021 I changed my SVG shop name from HandLetteredSVGs to cSquared Lettering, as I plan to broaden the Etsy shop and this site to more than SVGs.

This business has transformed my life completely. When I opened my shop two years ago, I would have never expected to see it grow to 12,000+ sales and become my full-time career. I have connected with some of the most amazing crafters, and this community of creators is incredible to be apart of. I’m excited for new beginnings, and to connect with you!
